I always get confused with these terms, so I usually end up not using any of them in my sentences. They all seem to mean the same thing but I know that they don't. I found a forum that tackled on the same topic. I hope this one will help. http://www.usingenglish.com/forum/ask-teacher/26725-fill-fill-up-fill-out.html

ReplyDeleteIt should be "fill out". That's what my teacher told me, but I don't know why.

I once thought that the word 'fill up' is not grammatically correct and only serves as confusion in using the correct word 'fill out'. Now I know that they are both correct! Thank you for sharing Ney!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ney. Like Kersteine, I'm having a trouble using these words.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this information.
ReplyDeleteI am sure a lot of learners encountered trouble using these different words. Thank you for posting this site.
ReplyDeleteKersteine, you might have forgotten to capitalize "t" in your second sentence. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a nice post Ney! I am also having trouble with these words. I often use or hear the word "fill up" than "fill out" and "fill in".
ReplyDelete"They all seem to mean the same thing but I know that they ARE NOT. I found a forum (omit THAT TACKLED)on the same topic.
