Four Verb Errors to Avoid

In order to prepare for our next discussion, I would like to share this link to everyone: http://www.getitwriteonline.com/archive/0219014VerbErrorsAvoid.htm.

The common verb errors that students write are the use of double-negative, the inclusion of 'd' or 'ed', and the interchange of the phrases ' could care less' and 'couldn't care less'

Let's all try how fast can we spot the errors for the four examples given. Explanations for the incorrect usage are posted just below the examples. Remember that we want to learn so try not to peek before answering!

  5. The four verbs that are being discussed in the site can be really confusing to use. The explanations are helpful for us to understand the points on how to use them properly.

  6. KC, I'm a bit confused about that 50-word limit. Is it the maximum or the minimum number of words to be used?

  9. KC, those comments are really insightful. Wow.

JC, I'm surprised you had to ask because (1)you spent almost an entire semester posting on our blog; (2) you said it yourself--"50-word LIMIT"; (3)You only needed to click on POSTING GUIDELINES above and read # 2, which says (and this goes out to everybody)"Your post must be 45 to 50 words long." I wonder what's vague about that.
