This sentence is actually INCORRECT.
The football match between Azkals against LA Galaxy will be starting in a few minutes.
This sentence is also INCORRECT.
BETWEEN is always followed by AND. It cannot be followed by TO or AGAINST.
This may be one of the common mistakes in grammar that we are guilty of committing. So the next time you use BETWEEN in your sentences, make sure that it is followed by AND.

Nice! I'll take note of this. :)
ReplyDeleteOh. So that's the correct usage of the word BETWEEN. I encounter a lot of cases wherein people say the word TO after BETWEEN (when they talk about a range of time just like the example given).
ReplyDeleteYeah, Between is for and; and From is for to.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your tip. :)

oh! so using TO is wrong. Since I usually see this mistake, I thought it is correct. I always want to know if there is a rule that supports the use of TO instead of AND, I guess it answers my question. :)
ReplyDeleteI never knew that using the word "between" has to be followed with the use of "and" not "to". It's a very good observation and I would say that I do sometimes commit mistakes with the use of "between" if this is the case.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this information. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm guilty. Hahaha. I often use between followed by to, than between followed by and. Thanks for sharing this information!

ReplyDeleteSo it must be:
ReplyDelete"I should post my blog between 4pm and 6pm."
and
"The football match between Azkals and LA Galaxy will be starting in a few minutes."
I am guilty of committing this mistake. :)
ReplyDeleteWe think of it as a simple preposition but still, we should use it correctly. By the way, the link you have indicated in your post is helpful. It tackles other common errors with preposition. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing this one.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post. I remembered that Ma'am Alfelor already taught this last semester.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Ma'am Alfelor already taught this thing. But still, thanks for reminding us. :)

ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me of these rules. ;)
ReplyDeleteNice presentation of thoughts, Ate Minelle. I thought it was well-organized and very assertive. You made me wish that I could write like you. :)
