Somewhere in Between

I should post my blog between 4pm to 6pm.
This sentence is actually INCORRECT.

The football match between Azkals against LA Galaxy will be starting in a few minutes.
This sentence is also INCORRECT.

BETWEEN is always followed by AND. It cannot be followed by TO or AGAINST.
This may be one of the common mistakes in grammar that we are guilty of committing. So the next time you use BETWEEN in your sentences, make sure that it is followed by AND.

  1. Oh. So that's the correct usage of the word BETWEEN. I encounter a lot of cases wherein people say the word TO after BETWEEN (when they talk about a range of time just like the example given).

  2. Yeah, Between is for and; and From is for to.

  4. oh! so using TO is wrong. Since I usually see this mistake, I thought it is correct. I always want to know if there is a rule that supports the use of TO instead of AND, I guess it answers my question. :)

  5. I never knew that using the word "between" has to be followed with the use of "and" not "to". It's a very good observation and I would say that I do sometimes commit mistakes with the use of "between" if this is the case.

  7. I'm guilty. Hahaha. I often use between followed by to, than between followed by and. Thanks for sharing this information!

  9. So it must be:

"I should post my blog between 4pm and 6pm."

    and

"The football match between Azkals and LA Galaxy will be starting in a few minutes."

  10. I am guilty of committing this mistake. :)
We think of it as a simple preposition but still, we should use it correctly. By the way, the link you have indicated in your post is helpful. It tackles other common errors with preposition. Thanks!
